Semen Gresik Encourages Education Sector Through Underprivileged Scholarships to 25 Students of State Universities in Rembang and Blora
Rembang, May 21st, 2024 – PT Semen Gresik Rembang Factory as a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) continues to be committed to encouraging the improvement of education by facilitating 25 selected students as beneficiaries of Beasiswa Prasejahtera Berprestasi (BEST), and are entitled to attend a boot camp program (training and debriefing) at Hotel Canthi Semarang (17-19 May 2024).
The BEST program is the Social Pillar of PT Semen Gresik Rembang Factory's Environmental Social Responsibility (TJSL) Program in the Education Sector which aims to facilitate outstanding students from underprivileged families in the Rembang and Blora Regency areas who enter State Universities (PTN). The 25 students were selected through a rigorous selection from 172 applicants from various well-known state universities in Indonesia.
General Manager of Communication & Legal of PT Semen Gresik, Abdul Manan, said that the BEST scholarship program that has been implemented is a form of PT Semen Gresik's commitment to encourage the improvement of the quality of human resources around the superior company.
In addition, to help improve the standard of living of the community in the company's operational area through the education sector, so that they can contribute better to their family, community, and nation.
"Congratulations to the students who have been selected as recipients of the BEST program in 2024. We hope that all of them can make the best use of this scholarship, be more enthusiastic in studying, and continue to improve their achievements to reach their goals," he explained.
"With the boot camp, students are provided with various materials and training in shaping leadership, soft skills, critical thinking, creativity, how to communicate well, and how to collaborate," Abdul Manan added.
The BEST scholarship program is one of a series of education-based CSR programs implemented by Semen Gresik, including SG Goes to School, Inspiration Class, and tutoring that have been running so far.
Meanwhile, one of the scholarship recipient students from Tegaldowo village, Aziz Mahfud, felt greatly helped by the scholarship program from Semen Gresik. "As one of the BEST scholarship recipients, I feel the benefits in helping to alleviate tuition fees and become an encouragement for us to continue to excel," he said.
The same thing was also conveyed by Siti Ayu Safitri from Pasucen village who expressed her deepest gratitude for being chosen as one of the recipients of the best scholarship from PT Semen Gresik. "We hope that this scholarship program will continue to be improved so that it can capture the seeds of PTN students, especially in the area around the Rembang Factory," she said.
